New Canaan Pool House - In Progress
The Pool House is part of a large estate in the New Canaan directly adjacent to Inland Bay. This freestanding structure is the third piece which acts as the sole contemporary addition to the estate. Two simple gable-shaped volumes of glass are clad in horizontal western red cedar wood slats, providing a delicate, layered interior experience while alluding to traditional barn forms in the region. The two primary sections of the house create a dialogue between public and private life: the southern form for cooking, relaxing, and poolside dining, and the northern form for more intimate bedroom and bathing spaces. Each volume overlooks a pool that faces the ocean beyond.
Brian Foster is the Architect in charge of the project for a private client. Design began in 2021, and construction will commence in 2023.
